June Acronym
July 3, 2012June was one of those months that you think it just started but in reality is just about over. Justin and I had all the regular work going on, we also had several weekends away from home in a row and I took on several house decorating projects, none of which are 100% complete yet, although most are close to being finished. Here is a little look back at the past month with the June Acronym!
Justin’s Grandmother moved out of her condo in Mississauga and gave us quite a bit of her furniture. We feel so lucky to have received it from her! In our old place, we didn’t having a dining table so we needed to get one when we moved into our new house. The dining table and buffet from Granny look awesome in the dining room and I love the storage that the buffet provides!

Utterly gorgeous beaches in PEI! We made a quick weekend trip to PEI and stayed in a cute cabin near Brackley Beach. One thing that I miss living in Moncton is having the ocean next to me. In Halifax, I could look out our bedroom window and see the Halifax Harbour and we could get to a beach in less then 15 minutes. In PEI, it seems as though you are always close to the ocean and a beach. Here is a picture of Justin and I at the beach, it was a chilly day, hence the jacket and scarf but still so pretty.

New chairs for the living room… when we moved in, I knew that I wanted two chairs in front of the wall with the window and a small side table in between. I have been looking for the perfect chairs and have had such a hard time finding them. I want them to match, to be comfy and have a fun, yet elegant fabric. I thought I had the perfect chairs, I even bought them and drove them home one by one in the car but decided to return them. They were just too light coloured and with a dog and a cat, I knew they would get ruined before long. I am searching for the perfect chairs again… If any of you know where to find a gorgeous pair of chairs, let me know!!
Endless painting. I have spent the month painting, painting and painting some more. The house was painted perfectly when we moved so I haven’t had to touch the walls at all, instead, I have been painting furniture. I painted a dresser for the studio, a night table for my sister, I stripped and re-varnished a headboard (counts as painting, right?) and I painted the entertainment unit that my brother built for me. Benjamin Moore is my best friend! Here is the before and after for the studio dresser which is for holding all my newborn props and accessories! The dresser was a bit of a sorry sight before I started working on it, I got anxious and took off the medallion at the bottom and a handle before I got an image of it. I still need to attach the new, sleeker handles to it, but I think it looks so much better already!

What did June hold for everyone else? Lots of travel or DIY projects? Tell me about it in the comments!

Kristin: Great job Emma! June was definitely a whirlwind for us too!
Kristina: Love the dresser Emma! And I'm so happy you and Justin got a chance to do a weekend trip! :) I miss you both so, so, so much! xoxo
Christa: LOVE the buffet! :)
