This past Saturday, I photographed the most wonderful wedding of one of my best friends! We’ve known each other since the summer after grade 7 and it was the most amazing experience to be able to be her wedding photographer! It was simply the best wedding and I can’t wait to share more images! Diane and Shawn, I am so thrilled for both of you and am really hoping that you are enjoying your honeymoon to Florida!

Diane and Shawn met before the ceremony- blindfolded so they could spend a moment praying together before they went to get married! It was a unique take on a first look!

Megan and Justin were married on a gorgeous snowy day, the kind of day where the snow is perfect for pictures which made the images extra gorgeous and gave them a painterly look. The day started out so relaxed in the girls hotel suite, opening the jewelry that Melissa, Megan’s sister and maid of honour made herself, getting dressed and with Megan’s dad sitting in the corner reading a newspaper while mom helped primp the girls. Megan and Justin had a beautiful first look and I loved watching Justin’s reaction to seeing Megan in her wedding dress. We took all the pictures outside in which the bridal party did so good braving it out in the cold! The ceremony was so personal and beautiful! All I can say is that this family knows how to decorate and put on a wedding! The reception was absolutely gorgeous and full of so  many gorgeous details. Megan found all of the gorgeous vintage pitchers to borrow and the room was lit with hundreds of candles in mason jars. The dessert bar was amazing too, and tasted even better! Congratulations Megan and Justin.

The beautiful jewelry that the maid of honour made and Megan, you are just stunning!

The first look! So pretty and I love photographing these special moments!

I need to print this image for my studio!!!

I love this red cape! You two are so beautiful!

The gorgeous bridal party! These people knew how to work it for the camera!

Love!

The ceremony was absolutely beautiful! Father Bill is a dear friend of the family and did such a good job at making the ceremony personal and perfect for Megan and Justin. I can’t wait for him to officiate another wedding that I am photographing this summer.

This dessert bar was gorgeous and delicious. Lots of family recipes were used to bake all the desserts. The maple syrup cheesecake was one of the most delicious cheesecakes that I have ever tasted.

I loved the idea of the cheese grater with the light inside to go with the cheesecakes. Megan, you are just so creative!

 The first dance

Quite a few of the girls had coordinated a flash mob dance that took place right after the first few dances. It was a first for me for a wedding reception but so much fun!!

As I said in the last post, on December 21st, I had the chance to second shoot for the lovely Stephanie from Wildflower Photography at Kingswood in Fredericton. I knew going into this wedding that it would be a beautiful one. The snow on the ground was perfect and it was warm enough to go outside for pictures with Andrew and Kelly. Everything was so well thought out for the entire day. We found lots of little handmade details that were gorgeous, such as the name cards on the tables, the centerpieces, and so much more. There is just something special about a Christmas wedding!

The girls got ready at the Avalon Salon, which had such great decor. I loved the lights and the quote on the wall.

I love the look on every husband’s face every time he sees his bride at the altar

Married!

It is so pretty outside of the Kingswood Lodge with some snow! Kelly and Andrew don’t hurt the scene at all though

Megan and Justin | Sneak Peek

Megan and Justin were married this past Saturday in Woodstock, New Brunswick during the most beautiful snow storm! Megan and Justin, you are gorgeous in these images! I love that the snow makes the image look like a painting! I will be back with more…

A beautiful Winter Wedding

January 10, 2013

Just a few days before Christmas, I had the awesome opportunity to second shoot for a local photographer and friend, Stephanie of Wildflower Photography at Kingswood Golf Course in Fredericton. It was such a beautiful winter wedding with a lovely couple. I will be back with more images before too long!

Late this past summer, I second shot another wedding with Steph in PEI. This time we were in beautiful Summerside at the Five Eleven West Buffet. The ceremony was gorgeous, overlooking the red cliffs and with a view of the Confederation Bridge in the background. I loved every minute at this wedding!

Both of Sean’s son’s helped him get ready before the ceremony

These cliffs are so beautiful! They were just in front of the ceremony site

One of my favorites from the day!

The light by the barn was to die for! Shelli-Dawn’s grandparents lived here and she was raised on this property as well.

These two are favorites as well!

Sean, I have a feeling that it would be impossible to take a bad picture of you!

Congratulations Shelli-Dawn and Sean!

Carmen and Jarrod are good friends of ours and they were recently married in Halifax on a chilly November day. It was such a unique wedding, with a bit of a surprise thrown in for all of their guests. We were all set to attend their ceremony at 3 pm and their reception at 5 pm. While at church that morning, we were all surprised by Carmen and Jarrod having a flash wedding and being married at the very end of the service. I think everyone was shocked and thrilled by the surprise! I wish I had taken in my camera so I could capture some images of the ceremony (and wearing more then jeans and a sweater would have been good too… it was a wedding after all!). The ceremony was held at Howe Hall at Dalhousie University and was such a fun time. Justin and I got to catch up with some friends that we hadn’t seen since we moved and we loved the wedding games and being able to celebrate with the couple. Here are a couple images that I took during the reception.

The gorgeous Carmen and ever handsome Jarrod. You can kind of see Jarrod’s boutonniere in this picture which was an awesome knight pin! It is a bit of a hint of what was going to happen later in the evening,

All of the flowers throughout the day were handmade by Carmen and her bridesmaids from cocktail napkins! They looked amazing and so colourful in orange and purple.

A few guys, including Justin got together before the wedding and bought Jarrod a sword, something that he has wanted for the longest time. They presented it to him during the reception and I remember hearing someone say “that had better not be a sword…” Jarrod was pretty surprised and thrilled!

I think my favorite reaction was Carmen’s though!

And Jarrod was knighted into “The Knights of Holy Matrimony”

 Congratulations Carmen and Jarrod!

So as we all know, many of the leaves have started to fall off the trees, and the warmish fall weather is giving into cooler and cooler temperatures. I thought that I would post a super quick and easy DIY project that can be used for fall and winter weddings as well as in your home. I plan to make a couple of these in the next few days to decorate with until after Christmas.

You can view the original post with instructions here, although I think I am going to make a couple of changes to mine. I am going to use branches that are just a touch thicker, and paint a few of them with varying amounts of gold paint then hot glue them onto the candle holder.

Do you have any DIY plans in the future for your wedding or decorating your home?

The Iconic Bridal Portrait

October 3, 2012

The iconic bridal portrait, every woman needs to have this image taken on their wedding day. It is a classic image, not unlike ones you see in black and white of Audrey Hepburn. These bridal portraits are some of my favorite images that I take on a wedding day.

As soon as the bride is all dressed and primped to the max, I take about 5 minutes of time, preferably with just us in the room to take her portrait. I always light these portraits with window light, having the bride lean in close in order to get some gorgeous depth in the highlights, dark’s and shadows of the image. Its also a great time for the bride to have a couple of minutes to get her thoughts together and to mentally prepare herself to become a Mrs. This is one of the only times during the getting ready that I want to be noticed and give direction.

Here are a few pictures that resulted from the few minutes of time I take to direct the bride.
