Hunter, our new dog!

May 15, 2012

I just wanted to pop in here today to introduce our new dog, Hunter! We adopted him this past weekend from a family who could not take care of him anymore and we can not be more delighted! He is a great dog, very well trained and absolutely adorable! He is a Brittany Spaniel and is 4 years old. Justin has taken him to the groomer today for a nice shave for summer so he should look pretty different when I see him in a couple of hours! Its amazing how well Maverick (our cat) has adapted to having Hunter around. Here are a few images of him from Sunday…img_9826blog

Of course I couldn’t leave Maverick out

Kristina: He's adorable! :)

Logan is one of my favorite little people, since his parents are dear friends of mine in Halifax. He is hilarious and always tries to make everyone around him laugh, he loves to eat and adores his mom and dad. When Logan was 3 months old, I got together with his mom to take some images of him and they make me smile every time that I look at them. Here are a few of my favorites from that day.

Piper was a sweetheart to photograph, along with her big sister London. Even though she was only a few days old, she was a perfect little model, all squishy and sleepy. Now, onto the cuteness!

Introducing Carys Julia!

March 30, 2012

A couple of weeks ago I got the joyous opportunity to photography little, brand new, Carys Julia. Carys’ dad is from Wales and Carys is the Welsh name for love. I do adore her name and the meaning behind it. Carys was a sleepy little one, so she made my job easy. Enjoy the images!moncton_new_brunswick_newborn_baby_photographer-1

The Kent Family

March 21, 2012

I remember the day that Crystal and Tom got married, it was a perfect wedding day- they had a little rain storm just before the outdoor ceremony, they had a pig roast and they timed the wedding to perfectly fit in with when the garden at my Aunt’s home were in full bloom. Actually, here is a picture from their day.

Fast forward 8 years and they have 4 beautiful children. Over Thanksgiving, I got to photograph them after we stuffed ourselves with turkey. We took these all around my grandparents farm, the same place where Frank and Dafne got married only a few weeks before. Anyone who has tried to photograph families with a few children know how big of a task you have set before you and there are no guarantees for how cooperative the children will be. I am thrilled with how these family photos turned out!

Introducing Brielle!

February 27, 2012

I photographed sweet little Brielle when she was just 13 days old. She was perfectly squishy and tiny when she modeled for me. I sure do love photographing newborns and babies! Here are just a few that I LOVE!!!

Brielle’s older sister really does love her!

Big things coming!

February 22, 2012

Today I have a big announcement to make. In some ways a lot will change, but in others it will not at all. With much excitement, my husband Justin has accepted a job offer in Moncton, NB and we will be moving to NB this April. We are super excited about the move- we will be closer to family and now that we are guaranteed be staying in one place for a while, we bought a house! What does this mean for Emma Poliquin Photography? Well, my business will be moving too!

In light of the move, a few things will be changing with my business. I will continue to shoot for my clients here in Halifax, only my home base will be changing. I am willing and would love to come back here for additional weddings this summer. I do adore Nova Scotia so much. The travel fee will be waived for 2012 for weddings within the Maritimes.

When we move, I will be opening a studio in my own home to photograph newborns, children and families in a stylish, modern way. I am so excited for this. If you have any friends in or near Moncton who are pregnant or have young children, please let them know! I have an awesome referral program too! With the studio, I will also be meeting all wedding clients there  with comfortable couches, lots of snacks and drinks!

I am also starting to book weddings in Moncton as well as the rest of NB, as well as PEI in 2012 and 2013. Moncton is perfectly central to all of Atlantic provinces so if you are thinking marriage, send me an email. I would love to hear from you.

Last but not least, pricing is changing a bit to reflect the move, contact me for updated pricing.

I will keep you all in the loop as we get a bit closer to the move. If you have any questions about how this may affect you, feel free to ask!

It was such a treat and honour for me to  photograph Wanda and Martin for their 25th anniversary. I photographed their daughter and son-in-laws wedding (Dayle-Marie and Colin can be found here) last year and Dayle gifted this session to her parents as an anniversary gift. It is always such an honour when a couple loves their photos so much that they hire me to photograph them again down the road or hire me for a friend.

Wanda and Martin have an amazing relationship, even after 25 years of marriage. They are funny, considerate and great looking too! We used Shubie Park as our location for the session, which turned out beautifully and I loved all the history that Martin was able to tell me about the Canals.

halifax_nova-scotia_shubie_park_anniversary_photographer-008Congratulations to both of you, here is to 25 more!

It was a busy summer to say the least, actually, it came and went so fast that I hardly know where it went. Both of my siblings got married and I could not be more thrilled! We are a family of 8 instead of 6 now!

Frank and Dafne were married on September 17th, which would have been my grandparents anniversary. They had a beautiful outdoor ceremony at one of our relatives homes, overlooking the beautiful fall foliage. Their aisle was lined with tree posts and candles, where they walked to say “I do.” Dafne looked so beautiful and Frank looked quite handsome in his tux. For the photographs, we went to a field on my grandparents farm with beautiful tall grass. The light was coming through the trees just perfectly.

My cousin Jessie did all the makeup and hair for the girls at Hairraiser in Woostock, NB.

If you remember from mine and Justin’s engagement pictures, we had some taken in this exact spot. You can see them here.

The reception was so much fun. Everyone was chilly from the strong wind but it was all so pretty. Dafne spent months making all kinds of DIY details, including the flowers on her cake. My grandmother hand illustrated each place card and Emma, my sister-in-law who is an artist, screen painted a Mr & Mrs sign.

I had help with the photography throughout the day by my friend, Natalie Paget of Hartfelt Images by Natalie, located in Simonds, NB. You were so helpful and it was fun to finally get a chance to work with you Natalie!
Frank and Dafne, I love you both so much, I can’t wait to see your completed home!

I have spent the past week and a half in NB with my family and have been on the go non-stop since I got here. I just had to pop in here, between client posts to wish everyone who reads my blog, all clients, family and friends a wonderful, blessed and happy new year! I hope that everyone had a wonderful 2011 and that 2012 is even more fun.

Justin had to be in Halifax to work most of the time that I’ve been here in NB so I made sure to take a picture of us while he was here. I used my tripod and the self timer but the best part of the picture, was that I decided to take it on a day that was -22 during the night… brrrr. I could only take 4 before we were absolutely frozen and had to choose the best one. Its hard to get a good one when your running back and forth to the camera but I love this one!
